Four reasons:
It helps you to
think. It is not unusual to find
ourselves wrestling with thoughts or ideas. Writing provides a place to vet these ideas. Writing will allow you to stumble upon aspects
of your thoughts that you might not otherwise stumble upon. Writing will make you a more thorough
an precise thinker.
It brings clarity. Writing will move you from the realm of
general ideas to specific approaches.
There is something magical about putting things down on paper (or a
computer screen) that helps you to see what you might not have otherwise seen.
It clears the head. How often do we find that things are in our
mind and we cannot stop thinking about them?
Writing give you a place to put these things. Writing allows you make an official record of
the thoughts, but frees the mind to release them. Writing is a powerful tool for clearing the
head.
It invites others
along for the journey. Believe it or
not, there are people who are going through what you are facing, who are
interested in what you are interested in, who are struggling with what you are
struggling with, and would love to see someone else’s ideas and thoughts on
these topics. Writing has the ability to
create a sense of unity.
